SPLASH PAD/PLAYGROUND/FIELD REVIEW ONLY We only utilized the outdoor splash pad and playground area. It is a cute, smaller splash pad compared to the Kiwanis Splash Pad down on Bragg Blvd. It does not have the little dump tank that spill a whole bucket full of water like the rest, but the massive spider that shoots water is adorable! I brought my doggies here and stay outside of the fenced area where the two tables are with shade. There are more benches here than the Honeycutt Elementary Splash Pad (including one under the shade of the huge tree, which is nice. The outdoor water fountain was not working (I was going to refill my bottle for the dogs to drink) and there were a ton of trash around the splash pad area. No matter the three trash bins surround the area for those to out trash. 5 stars because the area is nice, 4 stars because we can't control those who don't understand the impact trash laying on the floor could do. & yes, I did my part to help the slackers with their trash.

The splash pad and playground are nice and well maintained. They have security cameras. Some of the people there seem a little strange though. We ended up as the profile picture for some random Facebook group we weren’t a part of.

I would not recommend the summer camp program to anyone. I have personally walked in on some of the teachers being extremely rude to the children and one teacher holding my child’s hand so he couldn’t run to me at pickup. My daughter has expressed safety concerns with random people walking inside to use the bathroom and said her brother was talking to a strange adult and none of the teachers noticed. They are TERRIBLE with special needs children and will write them up/suspend them without a single adult witnessing the incident (I know because the last write up the director said that she got a few stories from the kids and wrote every scenario down). My child is 6 with two different neurological issues and despite knowing this she consistently wrote him up for every single incident (none were violent) instead of making them learning talks. Interestingly enough the versions of the stories I got from my children were very different than what the director wrote. The staff also publicly shame the children by loudly telling them that the messed up, one staff member called my child gross and I witnessed the director tell a child that she can write him up and he doesn’t need to be there. My daughter was told many times from other children when her brother was written up which is not something other kids should know. They also experienced bullying from the culture created at the center by staff. My child was told that “he’s nasty”, “his mom should spank him” and “he is a bad kid” from other kids. I know everyone think their child is an angel but he has been going to daycares/ after school care since before age 1 and I have never even received a bad report, yet here he has been written up 6 times and suspended 3 in the last 3 weeks. There’s no way he went from well behaved to a terrible child. I sent an email to the parks and recreations a week ago and they have not bothered to call back. The staff here need additional training on safety, special needs children and typical behavior for the younger children vs older.
