Pool is nice, but too cold. I mainly joined for the pool and was initially unable to finish my workouts due to getting too cold and physically unable to stop shaking and mentally could not take it anymore. I had to buy a thermal vest and wear thermal leggings just to finish my workouts and swim in an indoor pool, which I have never experienced before. After I get out of the pool I am shivering and have to stand in a hot shower for a while just to warm up enough to function. I understand if this was an exclusively competitive pool where athletes are putting out a hard effort and don’t want to overheat, but this is a YMCA where people want to swim at a variety of efforts that may not make them as hot. I spoke with a large number of people who also expressed concerns about the pool being too cold and have even canceled their membership because of this. I was also told that this issue has been brought up before, but nothing was done. When I brought it up, I was told “oh you will just get used to it” and “just swim harder”. Well, most days I am not swimming at a hard effort and use swimming as a form of cross training and recovery. I also have not gotten used to the cold temperature after a month and a half. The rest of the gym is good, but the pool temperature and the consideration for customer service is very disappointing. I do not think increasing the temperature by a few degrees would cause anyone to overheat, but it would certainly help those who find the pool to be too cold enjoy their workouts. I hope this issue can be reconsidered as the rest of the facility is good and the staff is nice and professional.

Clean facility, open one room cardio, and limited weights. Basketball court, two pools, and a cross-fit facility. Great for getting in shape. They do a lot for the community, kids sports available. This location is great for group classes. If you're a member and more interested in weights, visit the downtown location. The downtown location has a lot more to offer for those more interested in lifting.

So far my experience has been good. My only complaint is only 4 lanes are open in the lap pool. The other 4 are closed. This makes no sense. If you get there and the 4 open lanes are in use, you have to wait all the while there are 4 other perfectly good lanes to use, but they are closed. I already have a hard time finding time to do my workout due to my work schedule. The other frustrating thing is the kids swim classes take place in the open lanes when the classes could be held in the closed lanes or better yet, in the family pool.
