Clay Square was established in the City of Lafayette (now New Orleans) around 1852. The two acre square was purchased by the City and established as a park, with a fence around the perimeter and the planting of trees. In 1982 the park was renamed Burke Playground, in honor of Richard F. Burke a former Assessor in New Orleans. It’s a nice open playground with a soccer field, basketball court and more.

My 6 yr old girl was hurt by an off leashed large size dog today when she was walking into the park and joining her baseball team. Don't bring your kids here. Some dog owner use it as a dog park.

Large green space with beautiful live oaks and hills. Unfortunately, irresponsible and entitled dog owners have ruined the experience for children, anyone hoping to use the athletic fields, and adults who may feel unsafe around dogs. Off-leash dogs are rampant (It is not a dog park. As clearly marked, leashes are required at all times). These people have squashed the ability for the neighborhood to enjoy their park.
