Visiting the Hog Town Medieval Faire here was a real treat and much larger and more dynamic than I anticipated! The park provides the perfect venue for this annual gathering of fun, creative and dedicated people. The adjacent community space in the old train station with dining options was wonderful as well.

Generally, we enjoy Depot Park but we went for the Sparks in the Park event, and it is just poorly thought out from a crowd control angle. They brought in no additional porta-potties and they didn't ask biker, skaters, etc to not ride through the mass of people. I saw several kids either taken or nearly taken out. Additionally, they have a giant playground that is not supposed to close until sunset. They nearly always close it early despite it being one of the best places to set a sunset in the city. I also didn't understand not keeping it open later for this event in light of the number of kids and the idiots biking/skating/etc through them. This is a big event, do better. Fireworks were great though.

Nice place to walk and roam around specially in the evening. They have picnic area, restroom, nice children playground. It's dog friendly. The depot trail is connected with scenic gainesville hawthorne trail which is 16 miles long. If you wanna see gators in Gainesville depot park is a sure shot.
